Monsters tend to be drawn towards any Combat Mage casting offensive, damaging spells. The mage would only need a bit more skills in Combat Magic and some more Combat Magic Levels to do so.

My only mage, Nature mage is a dual user now and she could out damage my Ranger who has 20 in almost every skill and the Ranged Level 82 bow. In Elite, most mobs are healed by a certain type of magic so its more difficult to get the debuff/damage combo working.Ĭlick to expand.Having completed the game in single player Elite included, Mages do seem to be the most powerful. Debuffs can be very useful in normal and veteran where you rarely encounter much by way of resistances. Wrath of the Bear was important to me since I was heavily laden with physical combat players. I used Earthen Embrace with Wrath of the Bear, switching with Life Embrace or Wrath of Ice. They dont really make life much easier when the game gets hard but it can certainly cut down the time you spend hacking and slashing. As you progress, life leech might be necessary. Armour takes precedence over Resistances and Dodge unless the armour factor is relatively small. High damage really early on mixed with good defence. On my nature mage, dropping a set item for a unique which was a bit better on its own ended up halving my damage. Mixing and matching sets around to get the best out of things. In the end, I used unique and set items solely. Click to expand.I had 7 high level (70 or over level/skill) unique bows/xbows by the time i finished Elite at level 81 and only 2 bow users.
